This course for permaculture practitioners, aspiring farmers, farm managers, and regenerative ag consultants immerses us in the ecological design process. Thoughtful attention to design is a key distinguishing characteristic of projects that have used permaculture well. In this course we will examine the processes we use by default and learn advanced application of permaculture design process to take what we know deeper.
With a farm development focus, this course will give you practical experience in designing for regenerative agriculture. From perennial production and agroforestry to mixed vegetable market gardens to animals on pasture, you will learn how to design in context ecologically with proper planning for work load, yield, and profit. From water management and road alignment to required facilities and infrastructure to crop protection strategies, you will learn how to design and develop your farm properly for the first time and/or make adjustments to correct past mistakes.
We are passionate about offering this course for farms trying to regenerate ecosystems while making profitable decisions. Whether you’re a farm just getting started or a seasoned farm looking to lighten the load, this course is designed to help you make your life easier. Learn from two deeply experienced instructors, land planners and managers, and authors. Farm success, and failure, stories over the course of decades will leave you steeping in instructive value for your own work and land.

Course Details
This course takes place on a regenerative farm and home landscape in the early development stages. The course will be a mix of instruction and design projects in small groups for practicing advanced permaculture design. Class will take place from 9am-5pm each day, with evening activities as well, except during the arrival and departure day. Plan to arrive to the venue by 5pm on the arrival day. Class will end at lunch time on the departure day.

Payment, refund, and cancellation policy:
- Payments:
- Your deposit, together with your “Advanced Ecological Design” application, is your registration for the course.
- Deposits are due upon notification of acceptance into the course to reserve your spot.
- Full payment is due 30 days prior to the start of the course/program.
- Cancellations and refunds:
- In the event that Permaculture Institute, Inc. needs to cancel the class, all students will be refunded all deposits and full payments.
- Cancellation by registered and paid participant prior to the start of class will be refunded only if we find another participant to fill your spot.
- Once the class begins, whether the registered participant attends or not, no refunds will be issued, excepting circumstances with medical emergencies that prevent a participant from completing the course that they started.
Attendance and conduct policy:
- Full attendance is expected by each participant. If a student is not present for more than one day, either consecutively or cumulatively, they will need to make up the time missed beyond one day to earn their course completion certificate, if one is offered as part of the course.
- Participants are expected to show up to each class and activity on time.
- Participants are required to behave within the legal parameters of the host country/state, and respect rules and regulations of the course venue.
- Instructors reserve the right to ask a participant of any course or program to leave without refund if they prove to be disruptive, abusive, unstable, intoxicated, or violent to the point of being harmful to oneself, other participants, the quality of the experience, or the venue where the course is being held, solely at the instructors discretion.
