Permaculture Community Awards

rocks and grass

To encourage an atmosphere of professional excellence among Permaculture designers, educators, and community organizers, Permaculture Institute has created the Permaculture Community Awards. The Awards recognize and reward outstanding achievements of individuals and groups applying Permaculture Design in their communities.

Nominations are being sought from the Permaculture community in North America, and expanding to South America in subsequent years if demand requires it. We hope to see colleagues taking care and time to honor each other for their great works, therefore self-nominations will not be accepted. An annually rotating review panel of Permaculture Diploma holders, recognized experts in the field, and Permaculture students vote on the nominees. Awardees receive a printed award certificate and recognition on the Permaculture Institute website, social media pages, and other outlets.

SHAREthis project with your Permaculture colleagues, students, and friends. We all have a stake in ensuring outstanding work is representing the Permaculture community.

NOMINATEyour colleagues, students, and friends who are doing exceptional work with Permaculture Design in their communities.

DECIDEon the work that gets rewarded and recognized by inquiring to serve as a Permaculture Community Awards review panel member at awards@permaculture.org.

Awards and Categories

Five awards are issued per year, and decided on by the review panel. An announcement of awardees will be made on the first week of December of each year. Award categories are decided each year by the review panel to creatively and best suit the work of the awardees without imposing a set kind and characteristic of Permaculture Design applications.

Review Panel

The review panel includes 5-10 Permaculture diplomates, PDC graduates, and recognized experts in the Permaculture field or related fields. This is a rotating service to the Permaculture community on an annual basis. The panel completes their selections between November 1st and November 15th of each year.

If you are interested in serving on the panel please contact Jason Gerhardt with a paragraph about yourself and why you would make a good award review panel member.

Thank you for all your efforts in contributing to a professional Permaculture community. This effort is for you, to reward and encourage exceptional Permaculture work!
