National Guard Learns Permaculture Skills to Take to Afghanistan
In May 2010 2-45th Agriculture Development Team of Oklahoma National Guard traveled to New Mexico to train with the Permaculture Institute in all things related to sustainable farming, orchard care, animal husbandry, landscape ecology and much more. This was done as part of their preparation for deployment to Afghanistan to “assist and instruct” locals in their effort to revive traditional land cultivation in the region.
